New Hanover County is committed to providing financial assistance to nonprofit agencies which assist the county in carrying out its mission and strategic objectives as outlined in the 2018-2023 Strategic Plan. Non-county agency funding is distributed on an annual basis through an established process that ensures transparency, accountability, and consistency in the funding of non-county agencies. The funding process is as follows:
November 10 & 12: Training for Non-County Agencies on FY21-22 Process
November 13: Non-County Agency Funding Application posted on website
January 11: Non-County Agency Funding applications due
February 10 – March 25: Non-County Agency Funding Committee deliberations
March 29: Non-County Agency Funding Committee Recommendations due to County Manager
May 13: FY21-22 Recommended Budget informally presented to Board of Commissioners
May 17: FY21-22 Recommended Budget formally presented to Board of Commissioners
June 7: Public Hearing on FY21-22 Recommended Budget
June 21: Board Adopts FY21-22 Budget
Please note, mid-year requests for funding may be recommended to the Board of County Commissioners by the County Manager or one or more commissioners at a public meeting, however mid-year requests are an exception, not the rule.
